Final Exams

November 7, 2013 By DegreeofFreedom in Filed Under: Degree of Freedom Project

On a couple of occasions over the last few weeks, I’ve mentioned my plan to use the last 2013 entries of this blog to ask questions about what this whole Degree of Freedom project adds up to.

One obvious point to work through regards whether this experience actually has provided the equivalent amount of learning I would have had if I were enrolled in a traditional liberal arts program for four years.

Note that this is a very different question than whether things like workload are parallel between a MOOC-centric and classroom-centric higher ed learning program, and I’m looking forward to seeing how the answers to these and other questions interrelate, and what this might say about the long-term prospects for a free-learning movement just getting off the ground.

But given that I’m still close to two months from finishing this whole mishigas, I want to make sure the questions I’ll be trying to answer won’t just be developed internally.  So for those of you who have been following this project and want feedback on your own questions and concerns, please send me your thoughts via the comment field or contact form over the next month.  Just as I’ve attempted to get back to everyone who has reached out over the course of the year, I plan to make a best effort to answer everyone’s questions when it comes time to step back and see what the One Year BA was all about.
