Back from the Brink

January 13, 2014 By DegreeofFreedom in Filed Under: Degree of Freedom Project

With course work completed, my senior thesis submitted, and a week of recovery under my belt, it’s time to get back to the content-creation businesses.

Anyone interested in hearing what this whole Degree of Freedom project might add up to can listen to the first part of a podcast two-parter uploaded last Friday in which I take a look at how MOOC courses stack up as an alternative means towards higher-ed learning.  And this Friday, the second half of the series will look at whether or not a One Year BA based entirely on MOOCs and other forms of free learning can be compared to a four-year degree from a traditional residential university.

There is also still time to sign up for the Degree of Freedom newsletter (over there to the right) which will return today with a review of the first segment of ChinaX from Harvard University.

I expect to make some changes to the site over the next couple of months as the focus of Degree of Freedom broadens out from last year’s extended analysis of my student-centric MOOC experience.  And given that the MOOC-related speaking, writing and paid-consulting discussions I put off last year are likely to lead to some gigs in the coming months, I expect blogging frequency to equilibrate at a couple posts per week, with the newsletter and podcast (both of which I want to continue) showing up on alternating weeks (more or less).

Hope you decide to hang in there, and continue to hang out as Degree of Freedom enters Year 2.
